A patnership forged in the Tsomo District during the 60's by brother Dennis and Newton Boardman this year celebrates four decades as a fast moving consumer and hardware giant. In 1969 Boardman Bros (Pty) Ltd. was established and remains a family owned and operated business- just as the brothers envisioned. The company established itself as a respected household name that is recognised beyond South African borders and offers a staggering product range of over 1 400 products.

In 2009 Boardman Brothers celebrated their 40th anniversary and around the same time another Eastern Cape icon, Makhaya Ntini, celebrated 100 test matches for the Proteas and the idea for the perfect synergy was born. Makhaya was born an raised in the Eastern Cape and as a child fondly remembers his grandmother using Newden products in his family home.

As both Newden and Makhaya Ntini reached significant milestones it made sense to match the to together and Makhaya has become the face of Newden products, a products range as varied as the rainbow nation and with the value that will bowl you over.

Over the course of the year Makhaya will promote Newden products through themed promotions with personal appearances and the use of his image on promotional billboards, banners and posters.
